It seems now that I'm involved in a 9-5:30 day in day out it seems that I have more time, than when I was just lazily bumming around, and not using my time efficiently.
Odd, don't you think? Read More
The Summer Ball…
June 5th, 2009
Its that time of year again, when students all across Bournemouth have handed in any last minute assignments, presented rushed presentations, had a couple of drinks afterward, and finished all their exams. Recovering from their hangovers, they're now rushing (students are always rushing, but never actually getting anything done) around the local charity shops and California Fancy Dress shop in order to find their perfect summer ball costume. This year, as with every year before, I am working it. Again. Though this time I am manager of two smaller bars. I'll be the first bar open and the last one to close, shutting at 4am. This is good for the… Read More
Mike Tooth – Core and Surf Training
May 29th, 2009
Another day, another freelance project. Along with a graphic designer, I have just completed a working prototype of a website for a client. Based in Cornwall, Mike Tooth teaches surfing, core training, diet and nutrition and many other fitness and health techniques, while enjoying the sun at the same time! The site involved a fair amount of JavaScript in the form of… Read More
Freelancing
May 28th, 2009
Today I hoped to get some work done on getting my previous works online, but alas fate seems to want to hold me back yet again... I've had a phonecall from a friend asking me to give him some last minute help on some freelance work that he's undertaken, but doesn't have the time to complete. So we've got 24 hours to turnaround a working site prototype for his client. All in a days work... On a more interesting note, thornbury fair foods is now up and running (ignore that hideous frame, its going to be remove asap.) and they've had quite a few food orders already! Working on thornbury… Read More
Portfolio
May 20th, 2009
I intent to begin posting entries regarding all of the freelance work that I've done, so that anyone interested in hiring me or just to bounce idea's with me can do so. I've just secured a 6-week job with WeClik, who are a Flash based, page-turning, e-brochure producing web design company based here in Bournemouth.
WeClik are currently working with some big names, such as Microsoft and Apple, to name but two. I'm really looking forward to my time with them, and I'm hoping to continue working for them after the 6 week time is over. Read More
Working with Weclik
May 18th, 2009
I've spent the day fixing an E-PoS till from work. The till had a corrupt hard-drive, which I've now replaced and am currently re-installing Win 2k. Old though it may be, I still think its one of the most stable Windows based OS's. apart from 3.1 of course... I've also been dabbling with Windows 7, one of the very early builds. I find it not much different from Windows Vista, apart from the Mac-style dock which they seem to be implementing. I'm interested to see how it turns out. One thing thats for sure though, is that I can still only see two reasons to get Internet Explorer 8. Firstly, if you have IE6 things don't get much worse, so get… Read More

Getting Things Done.
May 16th, 2009
A whole weekend ahead of me, and my aims are simple. Get things done, but at a leisurely pace. Had work last night, I manage a bar at Bournemouth university and it was shamefully quiet. In the 4 years that I've been here its been getting quieter and quieter. I believe its because students now binge drink at each others houses, and then go straight into a club, miss out on the social drinking aspects. But nevermind. I need to get some last minute web design done on thornburyfairfoods.co.uk so thats going to be this mornings task (he says, posting at 11:55). Then this afternoon I'm going to try… Read More
A Warm Welcome
May 15th, 2009
Welcome to the website where, eventually, I'll be hosting a rivetingly interesting, very well articulated blog on web design. My specific area's of interest are good, successful typography and syntax, and also asynchronous, JavaScript-oriented PHP. So if you're a fan of AJAX, PHP, and good design then keep your eyes posted, as soon I will be launching this site. Read More
